FriYay Summers at Covalent— 4 Day Work Weeks

We’ve all experienced job burnout to some capacity and have seen the toll it can take on someone’s health whether it be physical or mental.

According to Monster, 69% of employees are experiencing burnout symptoms while working from home in the USA alone. There have been increases in stress, depression, and anxiety. When it comes to working in the world of blockchain & cryptocurrencies — that’s a different story. It’s 24/7. For those of you who are either CEOs, Founders, Executives, Developers, Creatives, etc. who work in this sector, you know what it means when people say — Crypto NEVER sleeps so who needs sleep?

Working in the World of Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies

Crypto is changing and moving at such a rapid pace where it’s disrupting global economic models, changing the way we transact, access data, and more. It’s a beast of an industry. It can become difficult to keep up with all of the innovations and changes happening. What was once popular in a week or month can change and become irrelevant in the blink of an eye.

Having worked in the crypto industry and entrepreneurship I have found in previous jobs that I have experienced burnout to different extremes. You lose your sense of reality and sense of self, devote all of your energy to your work in fear of losing your job especially during such a difficult time during the pandemic, your health gets affected to the point where it’s too late, and at times have managers or executives in leadership positions who don’t acknowledge the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and would rather work their employees to the bone. It’s important to take care of your team and champion a healthy culture.

Introduction to 4 Day Work Weeks

This is why I have such respect for our CEO at Covalent, Ganesh Swami. He’s been through it all — the hustle, entrepreneurship, burnout, bootstrapping companies, working crazy hours, and more. He understands the importance of making sure that the team’s mental health and needs are acknowledged, especially since we’re in an industry that changes constantly and in a pandemic. We have amazing benefits and equipment to ensure that our working from home experience is better.

What I’m excited about is how he introduced our new 4-Day work week where the team has Fridays off from May until August! We’ve all been on the hustle, but with Summer approaching he wants the team to have the time to decompress, focus on self, our families, and enjoy the nice weather!

I’ve never experienced this and am thrilled to. Who says 4 Day work weeks aren’t possible?

Everyone manifests stress differently and it’s important for leaders, (not just in crypto) to acknowledge. Find ways to provide the support and tools needed for your team to be more productive. Take care of your team and ensure you all flourish together.
